Even though the Art & Soul International residency was cancelled for 2020 and again 2022, I decided to go to Italy, two weeks in Florence and the month of April in Venice. On my own, I was delighted just walk and wander to see the sights and be able to attend the Venice Art Biennale, explore galleries and wander aimlessly through the narrow calli of Venice, historic streets lined with centuries old architecture and over numerous picturesque bridges.  Venice has captured my heart.  It is so magical. Fall of 2024 I went to Italy with my best friend from high school who had never been to Italy we met up with my friend from B.C.  It was wonderful to visit tourist hot spots as well as some of my favourite local location.  My travels to Italy have provided me with a new collection of photographs to be incorporated in photo encaustics, art cards and inspire new pieces of encaustic art.

My backyard studio, top 3 pics and newly organized Rock Bay Square(RBS) studio.

Ciao, Venice, Italy, my favourite destination. An enchanting and unique city. Wandering aimlessly has to be the best way to see the narrow calli, canals and bridges and hidden treasures around every corner. Every season offers colourful events and festivals. This amazing city should be on everyone's bucket list.

Artist Statement
Healing from grief and loss is at the heart of my body of work. We all experience loss; it is an inevitable part of life.  Inspired by the tragic loss of family members, principally my son, it has been important to work through the losses and find strength to carry on and live with intent.  Creating and sharing my art has been an important part of my healing journey and has allowed me to find joy again.
I chooses to work with all natural materials and include treasures found on healing walks in nature.  I endeavor to communicate the depth of emotion with the symbolism of water, shades of blue and green and the depth created by multiple layers of my molten beeswax medium.  Getting lost in my work during the creative process allows me express emotions in my work, creating an ongoing, healing experience.
